Kyiv has plenty of water, but heating is more complicated: what is known about recovery after the shelling
21 January 22:38
Water supply has been fully restored to all consumers in Kyiv. At the same time, the situation with heat supply remains more complicated due to extensive damage to infrastructure caused by Russian shelling in January. This was announced by the mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
How many buildings were left without heating
According to the mayor, 3,260 residential buildings in Kyiv were left without heat twice — on January 9 and 20.
This was caused by accidents and damage to heating networks after attacks on the city’s energy and utility infrastructure.
When will heating be restored in Kyiv
Vitali Klitschko noted that tonight they will begin supplying heat to buildings that were left without heating. However, the restoration process is not instantaneous.
“Tonight, heat will begin to be supplied to buildings that were left without heating twice — on January 9 and 20 — as a result of shelling and damage to infrastructure,” Vitali Klitschko said.
When will the heat reach the apartments?
The mayor stressed that the process of restoring heat supply is not instantaneous and takes time.
“It will take approximately two days for the heat to reach the homes of Kyiv residents,” Klitschko said.
This is due to the phased launch of systems, checking networks, pressure, and temperature regimes to avoid new accidents.
Water is available in all districts
Meanwhile, the water supply situation has stabilized.
According to official information, water is being supplied to all consumers in the capital, and emergency work on the water networks has been completed.
“Water supply has been restored to all consumers in the capital,” the mayor of Kyiv emphasized.
Utility workers are working around the clock
Utility services and energy companies continue to work around the clock to restore stable heat and energy supplies to Kyiv residents as quickly as possible.
“Utility workers and energy companies continue to work to restore heat and power supply to Kyiv residents,” added Vitali Klitschko.
The city authorities are asking residents to be understanding about the temporary inconveniences and to report any heating problems to the management companies or dispatch services.
