Kyiv is considering allowing taxis to operate at night: details

The capital may introduce a mechanism that will allow taxis to provide transportation at night during the curfew. This was announced by the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA) Tymur Tkachenko, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

Online services Bolt, Uklon, and Uber have sent an official letter to the Kyiv City Military Administration, in which they proposed to resume taxi service at night, following the example of Lviv. In October 2024, a similar model was already implemented in Lviv and the region: drivers with special permits from local authorities are allowed to provide transportation there.

Taxi drivers are convinced that a similar or improved mechanism can be implemented in Kyiv.

Timur Tkachenko noted that the city authorities are currently discussing the issue with law enforcement agencies.

“KMTA has received requests from Bolt, Uklon, and Uber taxi services regarding nighttime transportation during the curfew. We recognize the needs of people, but I want to emphasize that the safety of the capital is above all. Any “gray schemes”, illegal passes and the black market of night taxis will be destroyed,” he emphasized.

The decision to introduce such a regime in Kyiv has not yet been made, but the discussion is ongoing.

“We are currently working with all law enforcement agencies to create a clear and transparent mechanism. And if night transportation is allowed, it will be legal, under strict control and responsibility. There will be no chaos in Kyiv. There will be order in Kyiv,” Tkachenko said.
