Kyiv launches repair of one of the key highways: what is the cost of the tender
25 November 16:40
The Kyiv city authorities have announced a tender for the overhaul of Valeriy Lobanovsky Avenue, one of the main transport arteries of the capital. This is reported by the Kyiv City State Administration with reference to the Kyivavtodor municipal corporation, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
What is known
The avenue, built in 1964, connects Solomianskyi and Holosiivskyi districts and is part of the route of the so-called Small Ring Road. The last time it underwent a comprehensive renovation was more than 20 years ago.
According to the data published in the ProZorro system, the renovation will cost the city UAH 803 million.
What the project covers
The project includes:
- repair of the roadway and sidewalks;
- renovation of the rainwater drainage system and outdoor lighting;
- arrangement of bicycle infrastructure;
- creation of separate accumulation lanes for cars that have to make left turns to increase traffic capacity;
- adaptation of the infrastructure for people with limited mobility – lowering curbs and installing tactile navigation.
Bids will be accepted until December 9, 2025.
Lobanovskoho Avenue is experiencing a heavy traffic load, and the infrastructure needs to be restored after many years of operation. A separate goal of the city is to integrate bicycle lanes and move to barrier-free standards in public space.
The city authorities also expect that the renewal of roads and point changes in interchanges will reduce traffic congestion and improve logistics connections between districts.
The tender is a continuation of a broad program to upgrade Kyiv’s road infrastructure. In the previous months, Kyivavtodor has already announced a number of major procurements, including
- almost UAH 1 billion for the overhaul of the overpass near the Chernihivska metro station
- for the renovation of Kharkiv highway, where Avtostrada won with a bid of UAH 1.26 billion.
The next step is to review the bids. If the winner is determined without delay, the work can begin as soon as the necessary procedures and approvals are completed.
