The bakery industry in Ukraine is undergoing a transformation due to the challenges of war, energy supply problems, and changing consumer demand. The largest producers are trying to preserve the domestic market and increase exports at the same time.
“Kyivkhlib, one of the market leaders, is focusing on modernizing and expanding production. This was reported by the company’s press service, "Komersant Ukrainian" citing Ekonomichna Pravda.
What happened
Kyivkhlib announced the launch of two new production lines in Kyiv and Poltava regions. Two more are planned to be launched by the end of 2025.
The total investment in the modernization and launch of new lines at eight enterprises in Kyiv, Kyiv and Poltava regions in 2024-2025 amounted to about UAH 400 million.
Production and market
Currently, the company’s average daily production of bakery products reaches 310-320 tons per day. For comparison, the total volume of the Ukrainian bakery market is about 2.4 million tons per year.
Export figures
Since the beginning of 2025, Kyivkhlib has exported more than 2000 tons of products, which is 33% more than in the same period last year. The capacity expansion allows the company to increase its presence in foreign markets despite military risks and logistical constraints.
Retail network
In addition to production, the company continues to experiment with its own chain of stores. Last year, Kyivkhlib closed most of its stand-alone outlets without cashiers due to problems with intruders and power outages. At the same time, in 2025, the company re-launched the self-service store format to reduce dependence on staff shortages.
The modernization of production and the increase in exports show that even in the difficult conditions of the war, large producers are ready to invest in the Ukrainian market. “Kyivkhlib aims not only to maintain its position in the domestic market but also to become more competitive in Europe.
