Kyivstar is raising its rates: subscribers will receive an SMS about the new prices

16 March 12:36

Kyivstar mobile subscribers have begun receiving mass SMS notifications about changes to their rate plans. The new prices will take effect at the end of March, according to [Komersant]

What Kyivstar is saying about the rate increases

The messages received by the operator’s customers state that the cost of certain plans will change as early as March 31.

In particular, one of the SMS messages reads:

“Due to rising costs for business electricity and equipment maintenance, starting March 31, the cost of your plan will be 450 UAH for 4 weeks instead of 400 UAH.”

At the same time, the company is offering alternative plans with a fixed price until the end of 2026, provided customers switch to contract packages:

“Lock in the price until the end of 2026—switch to the ‘ALL IN ONE Optimal Contract’ plan for 400 UAH/month. Learn more about all available offers by calling 477*9 or in My Kyivstar.”

Which plans will increase in price

This is just one example of rising service costs. Traditionally, mobile operators do not publish a complete list of all tariffs set to increase in price in advance.

According to estimates by mobile market experts, the main price increases will affect mid-range and premium packages. On average, the monthly fee for mobile services will rise by 50 UAH.

Why mobile services are getting more expensive

Experts cite the following as the main reasons for the rate increases:

  • rising electricity costs for businesses
  • costs of backup power for networks
  • power outages caused by Russian attacks
  • the purchase of generators and batteries for base stations
  • costs of equipment repair and modernization
  • overall increase in infrastructure maintenance costs.

Under martial law, mobile operators are forced to invest significant funds to ensure uninterrupted connectivity, especially during blackouts.

How to prepare for rate changes

Subscribers are advised to check their rate plan in the “My Kyivstar” app or contact customer support to select the most cost-effective package.

Users can also:

  • switch to a different plan
  • sign up for a contract plan
  • add discounted services
  • compare the operator’s current offers.

Mobile communications market: general trend

Earlier, Kyivstar raised the price of several legacy plans by 50–90 UAH.

Vodafone updated the prices of several rate plans starting March 1. The price increases apply to both prepaid and contract plans. On average, prices rose by 50–70 UAH, and in some cases, even more.

Mobile operator lifecell raised the prices of some popular rate plans starting February 18, 2026. The changes apply to the “Maxi” and “Mega” packages, but only for new subscribers. Users who signed up for these plans earlier will continue to use the services at the old prices.

What to expect next

Experts do not rule out the possibility of further adjustments to mobile service rates in 2026, as operators’ infrastructure maintenance costs continue to rise.

At the same time, operators are trying to strike a balance between raising prices and maintaining competitive conditions for subscribers.

Business Expansion

In 2025–2026, Kyivstar is actively expanding its business beyond traditional mobile communications.

Specifically, the operator:

  • acquired the internet service provider ISP Shtorm;
  • completed a deal to acquire 100% of the shares in the medical supplies service Tabletki.ua.

These steps could strengthen the company’s position in the digital and online services market.
