Kyivstar changes the rules for extending the validity period of numbers: what you need to know

Mobile operator Kyivstar has announced changes to the terms and conditions for extending the validity period of numbers for prepaid subscribers. The new rules will come into effect on February 6, 2026. This is stated in the company’s announcement, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
The company explains that the update is intended to retain numbers for active subscribers and simplify the use of mobile services.
The total validity period of the number remains unchanged
As before, the total validity period of a number is 365 days, but now it is divided into two separate stages that determine the status of the number.
The first stage is active (274 days)
For 274 days from the date of the last account top-up or tariff payment, the number remains active. During this period, the subscriber can use all mobile services without restrictions.
Second stage — suspended (91 days)
After the active period ends, the number goes into suspended status for another 91 days. During this time:
- the subscriber receives an SMS reminder about the need to top up the account;
- the ability to top up the account is retained;
- calls to service numbers are available.
To fully restore the number, you need to top up your account with a single payment of at least 30 hryvnia.
How to extend the validity period of the number
To avoid deactivation of the number, subscribers can use one of the following options:
- top up your account with a single payment of at least 30 hryvnia;
- pay for the basic service package (for 4 weeks, a month, or a daily package);
for tariffs with semi-annual or annual payment, the validity period of the number is automatically extended during each package renewal.
At the same time, the company emphasizes that the “Extra Money” service and money transfers do not extend the validity period of the number.

- in the “Profile” section of the “My Kyivstar” app.
