China suspends Boeing aircraft deliveries due to trade war with the US – Bloomberg

China has ordered its airlines not to make further deliveries of Boeing aircraft as part of the trade war with the United States.
Bloomberg reports this with reference to informed sources, "Komersant Ukrainian".

Beijing also asked Chinese air carriers to stop any purchases of aviation equipment and spare parts from American companies, the sources said.

The order was issued after China announced 125% tariffs on American goods last weekend. These fees would more than double the cost of U.S.-made aircraft and parts, making it impractical for Chinese airlines to accept Boeing aircraft.

In addition, the Chinese government is considering ways to help airlines that lease Boeing aircraft and face higher costs.

About 10 Boeing 737 Max aircraft are being prepared to join the fleets of Chinese airlines, including two each for China Southern Airlines Co., Air China Ltd. and Xiamen Airlines Co. Some of the planes are parked near Boeing’s Seattle factory base, while others are at a finishing center in Zhoushan, eastern China.

According to the sources, the delivery and payment documents for some of these aircraft may have been finalized before the tariffs announced by China came into effect on April 12, and these vessels may be allowed to enter China on a case-by-case basis.
