Danylo Bosniuk, the leader and top-ranked athlete of the Ukrainian badminton team, has been banned from competing at the Olympic Games in Paris. This was reported by Suspilne, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

Danylo Bosniuk was disqualified for a year and a half in all competitions under the auspices of the International Badminton Federation. According to the athlete himself, this was due to a violation of the rules on betting on matches that he made in 2022.

In February, the athlete was in contact with the International Badminton Federation on this issue. He reportedly initially denied his guilt and later admitted it, but stated that he was unaware of the relevant rules in the federation.

The Ukrainian athlete noted that it was impossible to appeal the decision.

Danylo Bosnyuk is the leader of the Ukrainian national badminton team, ranked 33rd in the world rankings in April. After he lost his licence, only badminton player Polina Bugrova (74th in the world rankings) remained in the Ukrainian Olympic team.
