Transcarpathian doctors saved the eyesight of a three-year-old boy who had glued his eyes with superglue. He has recovered 100%. This was reported by the Transcarpathian Regional Children’s Hospital, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

on August 1, a three-year-old boy who had glued his eyes with superglue was rushed to the ophthalmology department of the Transcarpathian Regional Children’s Hospital . As previously reported by emergency medical professionals, the kid was playing and accidentally reached for a tube of superglue lying on the table. The substance ended up on the boy’s face and hair. His eyes were glued together.

According to doctors, during hospitalization, the boy’s eyelids were completely stuck together, he could not open his eyes, and the pain was very severe. There was a serious risk of chemical damage to the conjunctiva and cornea, the most vulnerable parts of the eye, which could lead to partial or complete loss of vision.

The doctors carried out a delicate cleaning of the eyelids and mucous membranes from the glue residues, and prescribed intensive anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and regenerative therapy.

For several days, the child was under constant medical supervision.

Thanks to the quick and professional actions of the doctors, complications were avoided and the child’s vision was fully restored.

Thanks to the timely response and professional actions of the doctors, complications were avoided. The child’s vision has been restored to 100%,” the statement said.

The hospital assures that only 53 similar incidents have been recorded in world medical practice, 30 of them in children.

The doctors appeal to parents with an important warning: household chemicals, including superglue, should be kept out of the reach of children. Even short-term negligence can have serious consequences for a child’s health.
