During the 2025–2026 New Year and Christmas period, the state-owned specialized economic enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” sold 91,700 Christmas trees. This is stated in the company’s response to a request from "Komersant Ukrainian".
How many Christmas trees were sold
According to the Unified State Electronic Accounting System, the largest number of Christmas trees was sold by branches of the Polissya and Central Forest Offices — 25,420 and 25,101 trees, respectively. The Northern Forest Office sold 19,544 trees, the Slobozhansky Forest Office sold 7,349, the Capital Forest Office sold 6,743, and the Podolsky Forest Office sold 5,786. Significantly lower sales volumes were recorded in the Carpathian (1,155) and Southern (625) Forest Offices.
Was there a need to dispose of unsold Christmas trees?
The company noted that in most cases, there was no need to dispose of unsold Christmas trees. This is explained by the fact that trees are harvested based on actual demand and the ability to quickly harvest additional trees if demand increases.
At the same time, “Forests of Ukraine” clarified that unsold trees are disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner if necessary. In particular, branches are used for winter feeding of wild animals, and wood is processed into chips — as biofuel or mulch.
