24 February 13:23
On the fourth anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the British government announced new sanctions against Russia. The list includes nearly 300 companies, individuals, and legal entities, as well as ships belonging to the “shadow fleet.”
This was reported by the British government’s press service, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
It is noted that London continues to put pressure on Russia’s most important sources of energy revenue, including oil exports, and key suppliers of military equipment that enable the continuation of hostilities.
The British authorities have called the new sanctions package the largest since the start of the war.
Who is affected by the restrictions
Nine Russian banks are subject to the new restrictions, including: Pochta Bank, Tochka, Transcapitalbank, Absolut Bank, Sinara, Avers, Lanta Bank, Ak Bars, and Fora Bank.
The sanctions list also includes Transneft, Rosatom Energy Projects, REIN Engineering, Rusatom Overseas, liquefied natural gas producers Cryogas-Vysok and Gazprom LNG Portova.
Sanctions have also been imposed on 48 ships that the UK considers to be part of Russia’s “shadow fleet.”
In addition, sanctions have been imposed on 175 legal entities associated with 2Rivers companies. Bloomberg notes that the 2Rivers network, linked to Azerbaijani traders Etibar Eyyub and Tahir Garayev, “played an important role in securing the supply of hundreds of millions of barrels of Russian oil, despite international sanctions.”
Two Georgian TV channels, Imedi TV and POSTV, were also sanctioned. According to London, they are involved in spreading “Russian disinformation.”
