The situation in the Donetsk sector of the frontline remains consistently difficult, but not critical. This opinion was expressed by military expert Oleh Zhdanov in an exclusive commentary to "Komersant Ukrainian", denying rumors of a critical movement of Russian troops towards Dnipro.
“The situation on the eastern front is not critical. I would characterize it as consistently difficult. We have managed to significantly slow down the pace of Russian troops’ advance, effectively bringing it to a halt. The enemy’s slight advance is observed only in certain areas – mainly in the Pokrovske and Vremivske directions. As for the Kurakhove direction, there are already days when the enemy has no advance at all,”
– the expert noted.
According to Zhdanov, the distance from the frontline to the border of Dnipropetrovska oblast also remains quite stable.
“There are 7 kilometers left to the border of Dnipropetrovska oblast in the area of Velyka Novosilka. In general, the distance in the Pokrovsk direction is still more than 20 kilometers. The distance there has not decreased,”
– he says.
Moreover, the expert adds, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are even managing to improve their positions in some parts of the frontline.
“Last week we even managed to slightly improve our positions in the area of Chasovyi Yar and Toretsk. This cannot be called a full-fledged counter-offensive, but rather tactical counterattacks to repel the enemy’s positions. In general, despite the complexity of the situation, it remains under control of our military,”
– emphasized Oleh Zhdanov.
Meanwhile, according to the military expert, the United States and Russia are conducting separate negotiations behind our back.
