Only one in five fraud proceedings goes to court

51,992 fraud-related criminal proceedings have been opened since the beginning of the year. Only one in five proceedings has gone to court this year. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Opendatabot.
During the first eight months of 2024, the number of new proceedings decreased by 13% compared to the same period in 2023.
At the beginning of 2024, the level of new criminal cases remained high, with more than 8,000 new proceedings registered every month.
However, since May, the number of new fraud cases has significantly decreased. In May, the number of open proceedings decreased by 1.4 times.
In August, the lowest number of new fraud cases this year was recorded – only 2,980 proceedings. This is almost three times less than at the beginning of the year.
Although the total number of new cases has decreased, it is worth noting the positive dynamics in cases that reach the court.
In the first eight months of 2024, 12,572 proceedings were brought to court, which is 24% of the total number of open cases. For comparison, in 2023, this figure was only 14%.
