Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Maguchikh is nominated for the title of the best athlete of 2025 by European Athletics. This was reported on the organization’s website, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
How to vote
You can take part in the voting on the official European Athlete of the Year platform. In addition to the opportunity to influence the choice of the winner, participants have a chance to win valuable prizes – tickets to the 2026 competition, posters signed by athletes from the Golden Tracks ceremony and official European Athletics merchandise.

The voting process consists of four equal parts:
- Public voting – 25%
- Voting by national federations – 25%
- Media voting – 25%
- Choice of the European Athletics Expert Panel – 25%
The finalists in all four categories (men, women, Rising Star among men and women) will be announced in the week starting October 6.
The winners will receive their trophies at the Golden Tracks ceremony to be held on October 25 in Batumi, Georgia.
Nominees for the title
In 2024, Maguchikh was named the best athlete in Europe at the Golden Tracks ceremony and has a chance to win this award for the second time in a row. The winner will be selected based on the votes of fans, national federations, media representatives and European Athletics experts.
Maguchikh is competing for the title of Athlete of the Year with the following athletes: Nadia Batocletti (Italy), Femke Ball (Netherlands), Georgia Hunter Bell (Great Britain), Ditaji Kambunji (Switzerland), Kate O’Connor (Ireland), Maria Perez (Spain), Jessica Schilder (Netherlands), Tina Šutej (Slovenia), Jorinde van Klinken (Netherlands).

According to SuspilneSport, this season Maguchikh has demonstrated absolute superiority in the European arena. In particular, she became the European indoor champion for the third time in a row and won the high jump at the 2025 European Team Championships in Madrid. Maguchikh also won bronze medals at the 2025 World Championships in both outdoor and indoor events, as well as silver at the Diamond League finals.

The winner will be announced during the Golden Tracks ceremony in Batumi, Georgia, on October 25.
As a reminder, Yaroslava Maguchikh won a gold medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The Ukrainian will receive $125 thousand in prize money for the victory.
Maguchikh previously announced that she would use part of the money to help the Ukrainian Defense Forces, a psychological support fund, and animal shelters.
