Ukraine and the United States held a second round of talks in Florida, focusing on developing a robust security framework and addressing humanitarian issues.
This was reported by [Komersant], citing a statement by U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.
Details of the negotiation process
The parties continued the discussions begun the previous day with the aim of developing a comprehensive peace agreement.
The main topics of the meeting were the parameters of Ukraine’s future security architecture and the coordination of humanitarian efforts in the region.
According to Steve Witkoff, the talks are constructive.
“We continue to encourage sustained, substantive cooperation and thank the U.S. President for his steadfast leadership in advancing these efforts,” the Special Envoy noted.
Delegation Composition
High-ranking officials from both countries are participating in the negotiations.
From Ukraine: National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, Head of the Presidential Office Kirill Budanov, Chairman of the “Servant of the People” parliamentary faction Davyd Arakhamia, and First Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Serhiy Kyslytsia.
From the U.S.: Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, U.S. President’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and White House Senior Advisor Josh Grunbaum.
Negotiations in Florida and Zelenskyy’s Position
As a reminder, the talks in Florida have been ongoing for two days.
The day before, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that following the two-day meetings between Ukrainian and American representatives, there were signs of possible new prisoner exchanges. At the same time, he emphasized that the Russian dictator does not actually want peace.
Earlier, Steve Witkoff noted that the parties are gradually narrowing the list of contentious issues for the conclusion of a future peace agreement. According to him, the delegations have focused on key aspects of security and stability.
Zelenskyy, commenting on this negotiation process, also stressed the need to determine Russia’s actual readiness to end the war. He noted that the Ukrainian team continues active consultations with American partners to achieve a fair outcome.
