The Ministry of Economy, together with the EU and the German government, has launched a new grant programme worth €480,000, under which 12 small and medium-sized enterprises will be able to receive funding of up to €40,000 to develop their exports. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.

Ukrainian businesses that create products or services with a focus on export or innovation can apply for grants.

The project is expected to provide 12 selected participants with a grant of up to EUR 40 thousand each, as well as group and individual consultations from experts, networking sessions, and other activities that will help identify and eliminate processes that “block” businesses on their way to export and innovation development.

Who can participate in the project?

The grant programme is open to small and medium-sized Ukrainian businesses operating in the following sectors

  • manufacturing industry (food, light industry, mechanical engineering, construction, furniture manufacturing, etc;)
  • creative industry (fashion, design, etc.);
  • other industries not mentioned above with export and innovation potential.

Priority will be given to enterprises that adhere to the principles of circular economy, green economy, environmentally friendly production, energy efficiency, and renewable energy.

Applicants can focus on both components (export and innovation) or one of them.

The project is not open to businesses involved in the production of weapons, military ammunition, dual-use products, refined petroleum products, alcoholic beverages, mainly by fermentation, beer and wine, as well as the production of distilled spirits, tobacco products, pharmaceutical products, gambling, agriculture (farms) and the IT sector.

How to apply for the grant programme

The applicant must be registered as a legal entity in accordance with the procedure established by the law of Ukraine.

Businesses registered as individual entrepreneurs, as well as state-owned or municipal enterprises, public and private joint-stock companies are not eligible to participate in the project.

You can apply for the grant programme until 23:59 on 25 June 2024 on the project website.

The €480,000 grant programme for small and medium-sized businesses is part of the EU4Business: SME Recovery, Competitiveness and Internationalisation Facility. It is co-funded by the European Union and the German Government and implemented by the German federal company Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH.
