In a Facebook post, MP Mariana Bezuhla told about 15-year-old Maxim Veremiy, who took part in the recent protests. The boy is the son of journalist Viacheslav Veremiy, who died during the Revolution of Dignity in 2014 and was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to Bezuhla, Maxim wants to enter Charles University in Prague and dreams of becoming a journalist. In his conversations with the media, he criticizes the government, in particular, he mentions problems in the work of the TCC, a travel ban for 18-year-olds, and populist statements.
Bezuhla draws attention to the way the media covers Maksym as “the face of the new generation,” but emphasizes that it is worth remembering who his father was. According to her, Viacheslav Veremii worked for the Vesti newspaper during the Maidan and was tasked with presenting events in a negative light. She recalls one of his articles with the headline “Prostitutes from Okruzhna Street moved to the Maidan” and his connections with Oleksandr Dubinsky. He was killed when he was returning home by taxi after work. Despite this, he was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine.
In the same post, Bezuhla raises a broader issue: the events of 2014, the loss of Crimea, the halt to the offensive in Donbas, and the responsibility of the leadership of the time. She mentions the names of Turchynov, Taruta, Poroshenko, Nalyvaichenko, Akhmetov, as well as some military officers, including the current Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, who, according to her, allowed the loss of Pokrovsk.
“A lot of strange things happened in 2014, and I hope we will find out someday why and how the events of the Revolution of Dignity happened, how Crimea was given away, how it was given away, and then, despite the capabilities of our soldiers, how the return of Donbas was stopped when the Armed Forces were already standing near Luhansk, and why the people who did this are still not in jail. Not the rank and file, not those who were allowed to escape (and how they were allowed to escape), but those who made the decisions. Some of them are still in the Ukrainian parliament and are not going to leave or stop.
I must say, these are not only politicians and oligarchs like Turchynov, Taruta, Nalyvaichenko, Lyovochkin, Boyko, Akhmetov or Poroshenko, but also some GENERALS. And one of them, who behaved very strangely in Debaltseve and has long been friends with Taruta, is now the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and allows the capture of Pokrovsk, the key to the Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia and Kramatorsk, while some groups tried to develop a third Maidan!” she wrote.
