5 March 2024 12:20

For the first time in nine months, Elon Musk, founder of Tesla, SpaceX and owner of X (Twitter), is no longer the leader of the Bloomberg list of the world’s richest people, Kommersant Ukrainian reports

Now the richest man in the world is American billionaire Jeff Bezos. The Amazon founder has managed to get back to the top of the ranking for the first time since 2021.

Bezos’ fortune has decreased by $500 million and is now estimated at $200 billion. However, Elon Musk’s assets have fallen by as much as 17.6 billion, which has put him in second place in the ranking with a net worth of 198 billion.

Musk lost the top spot in the Bloomberg ranking after Tesla Inc. shares fell 7.2% on 4 March. This happened after preliminary data showed that shipments from the Shanghai factory fell to their lowest level in more than a year.

At the same time, Amazon’s shares have more than doubled since the end of 2022 and are in close proximity to a record high.

Bernard Arnault ($197 billion) ranks third in the world’s 500 richest people, and Mark Zuckerberg ($179 billion) is fourth. Bill Gates, with a net worth of $150 billion, rounds out the top five.
