Massive attack on Kyiv: Russia strikes four districts of the capital

On the night of August 28, Kyiv came under a powerful attack by Russian troops using ballistic weapons. The strikes caused damage in four districts of the capital – Shevchenkivskyi, Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi and Desnianskyi. This was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Timur Tkachenko, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

According to reports from monitoring groups, the attack was carried out using ballistic weapons.

Earlier, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned of a high speed enemy object moving towards the northern part of Kyiv region.

A few minutes later, the Kyiv City Military Administration urged residents not to leave the shelters and reported on the work of the air defense forces.

“Due to the Russian ballistic missile attack, the consequences are being recorded in several districts of the capital – Shevchenkivskyi, Darnytskyi and Dniprovskyi. The extent of the damage is being assessed,” said Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Air Defense Forces.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed the information about the fall of debris in the Desnianskyi district. According to preliminary data, two residential buildings were damaged in Darnytsia district. Emergency services are working at the scene.

Klitschko clarified that medics have been called to several other locations in the Darnytskyi district:

“The massive attack on the capital continues. Air defense forces are working in the city. Do not leave the shelters!”

In addition, an attack drone went down in Sviatoshynskyi district of the capital during the same attack. According to Timur Tkachenko, there were no casualties or significant damage.

Currently, the damage is being assessed and the consequences of the attack are being eliminated.
