Massive strike in Odesa region: Russia attacks port infrastructure, there are dead and wounded

On the evening of Friday, December 19, Russian troops launched a massive missile attack on the port infrastructure of Odesa region. The attack killed at least seven people and injured fifteen others with varying degrees of severity. This was reported by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

According to the head of the OMA, the attack was carried out by ballistic missiles on a port infrastructure facility in Odesa district. As a result of the hits, a fire broke out in the parking lot of the freight transport, where several cars caught fire.

“According to preliminary information, unfortunately, seven people were killed. Fifteen others were injured and hospitalized. Doctors are providing all necessary assistance to the victims,” said Oleg Kiper.

He also noted that the work of rescue and emergency services is hampered as air raids are constantly sounding in the region, which poses an additional threat to the personnel.

Targeted attacks on critical infrastructure

The attack on the port infrastructure is another episode of Russia’s systematic attacks on facilities that are key to Ukraine’s economy and logistics.

The ports of Odesa region play a strategic role in ensuring exports, humanitarian transportation and food security.

A series of attacks on Odesa region

Odesa region has been under intense shelling for several days. On the night of December 13, the region suffered one of the largest attacks since the beginning of the full-scale war. Russian troops massively attacked the energy infrastructure with missiles and drones, trying to leave the region without electricity, water and heat.

Due to numerous attacks on energy facilities, a state of emergency was declared in the region. The situation remains critical in some localities. In particular, the town of Artsyz may be without power until December 26.

Despite this, emergency crews continue to work to restore electricity, water and heat supply.

Attacks on civilians: a woman killed and children injured

In addition, in the evening of December 18, Russian troops attacked a bridge near the village of Mayaki in Odesa region with a drone strike. The drone hit a car with a woman and children inside.

The woman died on the spot, and the children were seriously injured and hospitalized.

The situation remains tense

Authorities are urging residents of the region not to ignore air raid warnings, stay in shelters and follow official reports.

The Odesa region remains one of the key targets of Russian attacks against both civilians and critical infrastructure.
