Massive power outage paralyzes Prague and other Czech cities

On Wednesday, July 3, a large-scale power outage occurred in the Czech Republic, covering a large part of the country. The capital, Prague, suffered the most.

Due to the blackout, subway traffic, most tram and trolleybus routes stopped. In the city, hundreds of people were stuck in elevators, and ATMs were not working. At the same time, Prague Airport remained operational.
Power outages were also reported in the cities of Mladá Boleslav, Usti nad Labem, Hradec Králové and others.
According to preliminary data, the cause was a technical malfunction in the power grid. The exact circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
Similar incidents have been reported in other European countries. In particular, Spain and Portugal have been experiencing power outages since April 28. The European Commission has not yet provided an official explanation, and the Spanish National Court has classified the investigation into possible cyber interference.
