Letters about mining of state institutions and educational establishments throughout Ukraine were sent by a resident of the occupied Crimea. He was identified by journalists of Radio Liberty, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

The media found out that the letter was signed by Oleksandr Assauliuk. The man lives in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and has a Russian passport.

Assauliuk identified himself as a representative of the “terrorist group” Fire Cells Group, after the name of the anti-Ukrainian telegram channel of the same name, which spreads calls to burn down Ukrainian military vehicles and persecute the military of the TCC. Representatives of the group have also previously sent out messages about assassinations for reward of top Ukrainian government officials.

The threatening letter, which was also received by the media outlet, mentioned Radio Liberty journalists Iryna Sysak and Valeria Yegoshyna, as well as freelancer Yulia Khymerik. Their investigation into how Russian special services recruit Ukrainians – including minors – for money to set fire to Ukrainian military vehicles was recently published. The author of the letter asks that they be considered guilty of mass mining.

Meanwhile, the SBU believes that the case should be considered as an IPSO aimed at spreading panic.

As a reminder, since 12:40 a.m. today, all regions of the country have been receiving anonymous letters about mining of their buildings to the email addresses of state authorities, local governments and other facilities.
