Information about the problems quickly spread on social media. Monobank confirmed the technical difficulties and stated that they were already working to resolve them, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
Which functions were unavailable
The failure affected key mobile banking functions. Customers reported the following limitations:
- inability to make card-to-card transfers (P2P);
- inability to pay bills and make payments;
- temporary suspension of transactions with “banks”;
- problems with the “credit until tomorrow” service;
- inability to manage credit limits.
In fact, some of the main financial operations were paralyzed.
Monobank’s response
The bank confirmed that the problem was technical in nature.
“Currently, card-to-card transfers, payments from banks, and ‘credit until tomorrow’ are experiencing glitches. We are fixing it, and everything will be working very soon. We apologize for the inconvenience,” Monobank representatives said.
At the time of publication, there was no official information about a cyberattack or external interference.
Is the failure related to previous incidents?
Previously, Ukraine has experienced large-scale technical failures, during which the following services were temporarily unavailable:
- bank terminals;
- the Diya app;
- the Nova Poshta website;
- subway payments.
At that time, Monobank also did not confirm a hacker attack. It is currently unknown whether the current incident is related to previous failures.
What customers should do during a malfunction
Experts advise:
- do not repeat transactions several times in a row;
- check the withdrawal of funds after service resumption;
- use alternative payment methods;
- monitor official announcements from the bank.
