Large-scale special operation: more than 150 searches to block escape channels for “fugitives”

The National Police of Ukraine is conducting more than 150 simultaneous searches as part of a large-scale special operation aimed at closing down the channels of illegal transportation of men subject to military service abroad, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
What is known
- The operation is being carried out by operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations (DSI) and investigators of the National Police.
- The goal is to expose the organizers and participants of schemes that help men of military age avoid mobilization.
- The schemes include:
- use of the “Shlyakh” system for fictitious departure
- forgery of medical documents
- bypassing official checkpoints

The cost of escape
- According to law enforcement, the cost of such “services” reached up to $25,000 for one attempt to cross the border.

Geography of the operation
- Searches are conducted in all regions of Ukraine
- The operation is conducted under the supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office

Additional facts
- In Zakarpattia region, 19 smugglers were recently detained while trying to cross the border with Slovakia.
- In Odesa region, police exposed the organizer of men’s trafficking to Moldova.
The National Police promises to make public the details of the special operation after the investigation is completed.
