White cabbage has fallen in price by almost 80% over the year on the Ukrainian market

While in the first half of December 2024, Ukrainian farmers managed to actively raise prices for white cabbage, this season the situation in this segment is developing in a completely different scenario, according to analysts of the EastFruit project, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to experts, the supply of this product on the market today is excessive, which forces producers to once again reduce prices for white cabbage.
Thus, at the moment, prices for white cabbage on the Ukrainian market are formed in the range of 3-9 UAH/kg ($0.07-0.21/kg), which is on average 17% cheaper than at the end of last week. Market operators explain another decline in prices in this segment by a significant increase in production of this product in Ukraine this season. At the same time, sales of cabbage remain very low, which does not allow the market to be relieved.
It is worth noting that in the current situation, the main share of supply on the market is low-quality products that are not suitable for long-term storage. Also, cabbage is offered by farms that do not have equipped storage facilities. At the same time, the owners of high-quality products are currently refusing to sell them in anticipation of an improvement in the market.
As of today, white cabbage in Ukraine is already 78% cheaper on average than in the same period last year.
