McDonald’s has opened another restaurant in Ukraine

26 February 14:25

A new McDonald’s restaurant has opened in the village of Basivka near Lviv. It is the company’s first restaurant to open in 2026. This is the 121st restaurant in the chain in Ukraine and the 13th in the Lviv region. This was reported by McDonald’s, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

“The restaurant is located near a convenient transport interchange on the Lviv Ring Road, close to shopping centers and a future residential complex. Thanks to heavy traffic and infrastructure development, the establishment will become a convenient place for travelers, motorists, and residents of nearby areas,” the statement said.

The new restaurant has an area of 468.9 square meters and is equipped with 121 seats in the hall and 156 on the terrace.

According to the statement, all major sales channels are available to guests: orders in the dining room at self-service terminals from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., McDrive from 5:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., and mobile ordering via the McDonald’s app.

The restaurant also has a generator in case of power outages.

The company reported that the new restaurant employs 45 people. The restaurant will operate under extended safety rules.

“Like all McDonald’s restaurants in Ukraine, the restaurant in Basivtsi operates in accordance with enhanced safety rules. During an air raid alert, the restaurant temporarily suspends operations so that employees and visitors can go to the nearest shelter, and resumes service within an hour after the all-clear. At the same time, all employees receive their full salary, regardless of the time spent in the shelter during their shift,” the company also said.

As noted by the press service, this year McDonald’s will continue to implement its development strategy in Ukraine by investing in network expansion and improving the customer experience.

McDonald’s previously announced plans to open 11 restaurants in Ukraine in 2026, and in 2027-28, it expects to accelerate the development of the network to 15 new establishments per year. Vitaliy Stefurak, McDonald’s development director in Ukraine, said

“We see prospects for development in Ukraine, so we are working to gradually increase investment,” Stefurak said.

According to him, nine openings were announced in the plans for 2025, but the plan was adjusted. De facto, in 2025, the chain expanded by 11 new establishments.

As for future locations, according to the development director, the focus will be on increasing the number of restaurants in cities where the chain is already present.

“Our priority areas for development are Kyiv, cities with a population of over one million, regional centers and their satellites (provided there is sufficient traffic), as well as locations on popular routes. Today, we are focusing on central and western Ukraine,” he said.

He named popular tourist locations as one of the promising areas.

As a reminder, McDonald’s in Ukraine began operations on May 24, 1997, when the first restaurant was opened in Kyiv near the Lukyanivska metro station. On February 24, 2022, due to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, all establishments were suspended. However, plans to resume operations were announced in June. McDonald’s in Ukraine resumed operations on September 20, 2022. The first three establishments to open were in Kyiv.
