Mayor of Reni gets into a serious road accident, one dead and one injured

The National Police of Ukraine is establishing the circumstances of a road accident that occurred on August 30 in Odesa Oblast. The driver of an SUV lost control and slid into a ditch, killing a woman.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing its own sources in law enforcement, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to the sources, it is the mayor of the city of Reni in Odesa region, Ihor Plekhov. It is previously known that he, while driving a Lexus SUV, drove off the roadway and into a ditch on the road between Vvedenka and Svitlodolynske in Odesa region.
As a result of the maneuver, the car overturned, killing a 72-year-old female passenger. The driver and a five-year-old child suffered numerous injuries and were taken to hospital. The driver will be additionally tested for intoxication.
The police are currently establishing the circumstances of the accident. The issue of registering the incident in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations is being decided.
