Meta has announced the acquisition of Chinese artificial intelligence startup Manus as the corporation intensifies its efforts to implement the latest technologies, including AI, in its services.
Reuters reports this, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
The financial terms of the deal are not disclosed, but according to the agency’s sources, its value is estimated at $2 to $3 billion.
It is noted that Manus attracted widespread attention at the beginning of the year after it went viral on social network X. The company presented a product that it called the world’s first universal AI agent capable of making decisions and performing tasks with a minimum number of prompts, unlike other AI chatbots.
After that, according to Reuters, Beijing showed interest in Manus. The startup claims that its AI agent outperforms OpenAI’s DeepResearch in terms of performance. The company also has a strategic partnership with Alibaba and collaborates with it on the development of artificial intelligence models.
After acquiring the startup, Meta plans to commercialize the Manus service and integrate it into its consumer and business products, including Meta AI.
