Weather-sensitive individuals should prepare: scientists have warned of powerful magnetic storms in the second half of January 2026
13 January 02:55
At the end of last year, magnetic storms reached STORM G3 levels, while the first half of January brought a calmer geomagnetic situation. Scientists at the Space Weather Forecasting Center report that the beginning of January will be dominated by calm geomagnetic conditions, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to preliminary forecasts, January 2026 should pass with little impact on Earth, but on some days, geomagnetic fluctuations may develop into fairly strong magnetic storms.
Magnetic storms in January 2026: when to expect high geomagnetic activity
According to the latest data, the most powerful magnetic storms (5-6 points) are forecast only on the following dates:
- January 12 – 6 points;
- January 29 – 5 points.
This level of geomagnetic activity can significantly affect well-being and the operation of equipment. These days are considered the most dangerous for weather-sensitive people.
Days with moderate geomagnetic activity
Moderate magnetic fluctuations (4 points) are expected on the following days:
- January 13;
- January 14;
- January 19;
- January 20;
- January 21;
- January 28;
- January 30.
On these dates, you may experience slight discomfort, headaches, or fatigue, but for the vast majority of the population, these fluctuations will go unnoticed.
Days with minimal magnetic activity
Most days in the second half of the month are characterized by low levels of magnetic activity (2–3 points), which will have almost no effect on Earth. In particular, minimal geomagnetic disturbances are forecast on the following dates:
- January 15–18;
- January 22–26;
- January 31.
Thus, the most powerful magnetic storms in January 2026 are expected only twice — on January 12 and 29, while most of the month will pass under conditions of weak or moderate geomagnetic activity.
How to reduce the impact of magnetic storms on your well-being
On days of increased solar activity, doctors advise paying closer attention to your well-being and daily routine. Magnetic storms can affect the nervous system, cardiovascular health, and overall energy levels, so during such periods, it is important not to overload the body physically or psychologically.
- Avoid overexertion. First of all, it is worth reducing the number of tasks and avoiding excessive stress. Even your usual pace of life during a magnetic storm can feel more difficult than usual.
- Drink enough water. Experts advise paying close attention to your water balance. Drinking enough clean water helps the body adapt to changes more easily.
- Watch your diet. Nutrition plays an equally important role. During magnetic storms, do not skip meals and avoid foods that may be difficult to digest. Refrain from salty, spicy foods, alcohol, and excessive amounts of coffee and energy drinks.
- Do not neglect rest. Doctors advise going to bed no later than 11 p.m. and sleeping at least 7-8 hours a day so that the body has time to recover. To reduce stress and improve overall well-being, walks in the fresh air and regular ventilation of rooms will also be helpful.
- Limit the use of gadgets before bedtime. In the evening, it is better to give preference to calm activities and refrain from using gadgets at least 20 minutes before bedtime.
Particularly sensitive people may experience changes in their well-being the day before powerful magnetic fluctuations. Following these simple recommendations will help to significantly reduce stress levels and lessen the impact of magnetic fluctuations on the body. Experts advise people with chronic diseases to be especially attentive to their condition and keep the necessary medications with them, and if they feel unwell, to consult a doctor immediately.
