Kyiv metro changes its timetable: how trains run

3 June 2024 11:28

On Monday, 3 June, Kyiv Metro changed its train schedule. The new timetable for the capital’s subway trains was published on the official Facebook page of the KMK, reports [Kommersant].

The intervals between trains will be:

  • during peak hours approximately 3-4 minutes;
  • off-peak – 6:00-6:30 minutes;
  • on weekends, the intervals will remain unchanged – 6-7 minutes.

“Metro train timetables are drawn up taking into account the size of the passenger flow and the staffing of the company’s employees, including drivers,” the company said.

Passengers were also assured that train traffic safety is ensured. The rolling stock is maintained and repaired in accordance with established regulations.

It should be noted that Kyiv Metro warned about the change in timetables a few days ago. The utility company explained that due to mobilisation, there was a shortage of drivers and technicians in the subway. Almost 7% of employees are currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In addition, the shortage of labour was caused by the fact that not every worker “from the street” can work on this type of public transport.

Currently, the Kyiv subway lacks

  • turners and fitters (161 vacancies);
  • electromechanics (48 vacancies);
  • electric train drivers (83 vacancies).
