Microsoft has reported a system bug in Windows 11 that affects the operation of a number of basic components of the operating system. The warning appeared in the company’s support blog amid ongoing failures in Windows and Office, Neowin reports, "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to Microsoft, the instability was caused by a bug in the processing of the XAML interface language. As a result, critical elements of the system shell, including the Start menu, taskbar, Explorer, and Settings program, do not work correctly.
According to Microsoft, failures can manifest themselves in the form of process crashes and incorrect service startups. Possible symptoms include: crash of Explorer.exe and ShelHost.exe processes, unstable operation of StartMenuExperienceHost, automatic crash of the Options program, crash of programs during initialization of XAML interfaces, absence of the taskbar when Explorer is running, errors of Immers components.
At the same time, Microsoft has recognized the existence of the problem only now, although, according to its data, the bug has been present since July 2025, when KB5062553 was released. Additionally, it is noted that Windows 11 version 25H2 was also affected by the failure, as it uses the same code base as 24H2.
The company has not yet officially determined the timing of the patch release.
