The Ministry of Economy refutes panic: what actually changes in the reservation of employees of critical enterprises

11 December 20:24

The Ministry of Economy has denied the information spread in some media that employees of critical enterprises can be deprived of their reservations “instantly and without warning,” "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

The agency called this an incorrect interpretation of the current rules.

The press service emphasized that the basic mechanism has not changed: the deferral is granted through an enterprise that has the status of a critical enterprise. If the company loses this status, the reservation of its employees will be terminated, and this rule has existed since the system began operating.

What changes have really taken place

The Ministry of Economy emphasizes that the innovations rather simplify procedures for such enterprises and reduce the risks of losing specialists due to bureaucracy. Among the key changes:

  • Defense companies can now book employees for 45 calendar days.
  • The 72-hour deadline for checking the lists submitted for booking has beencanceled.

The Ministry explains that these steps are intended to ensure the continuity of the companies’ operations and prevent staff losses during the period of paperwork.

Why the confusion arose

The media hype was generated after the Cabinet of Ministers adopted changes to the reservation procedure for persons liable for military service. Some of these rules were interpreted by the media as an opportunity for the state to immediately cancel the deferrals of employees of critical companies.

However, as the Ministry of Economy explained, these are rules already in place: if a company ceases to meet the criteria of critical importance, it automatically loses the right to book employees, and this has been in effect since the system was launched.

What it means for businesses and employees

For companies that retain the criticality status, the booking mechanism will not become more complicated. On the contrary, the elimination of the 72-hour verification period and a clear booking deadline for the defense industry can speed up procedures and reduce the risk of downtime.

For employees, this means that their deferral remains valid as long as the company has the appropriate status and submits their data in the prescribed manner.
