                                                                    Ukraine is planning to introduce a new system of contracts for military personnel, which will provide for specific terms of service. This was announced by Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal on his official Telegram channel, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
What the new contracts provide for
According to the minister, the main goal of the changes is to make service more predictable, fair and motivating for the military.
“The main innovation is guaranteed clear terms of service. Contracts will be from 1 to 5 years. Contracts for 2-5 years provide for a one-year deferral from mobilization upon completion of the contract,” noted Shmyhal.
Thus, servicemen will be able to plan their time of service in advance, and after its completion they will be able to temporarily return to civilian life without the risk of being called up again.
Who will be able to sign
The following will be able to sign the new contracts after they are introduced:
- current members of the Armed Forces who are currently serving;
 - new volunteers who are about to join the army.

This means that the updated system will be unified for all categories of military personnel and will be introduced gradually.
What benefits are promised
The Ministry of Defense also plans to expand the social package and financial incentives for those who sign the contract:
- increased monthly payments;
 - bonuses for signing the contract;
 - additional guarantees of social protection;
 - career development and training opportunities.

“The new contracts are about fairness and predictability. We are working with the Government, the Ministry of Finance and partners, and we will announce all additional details in the near future,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.
When the new system will be launched
The Ministry of Defense is currently working with the government, the Ministry of Finance and international partners to prepare legislative changes.
All the details, including the amount of payments and the procedure for concluding new contracts, are planned to be made public in the near future.
