Ministry of Defence refutes top 5 fakes about “Reserve”

After the launch of the Reserve app, some Ukrainians are afraid to use it to update their data and do so offline. The reason for this fear is fake news. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Kateryna Chernogorenko on Facebook.
The Ministry of Defence has compiled the top 5 “fears” for Ukrainian men regarding the Reserve app.
Military registration document in the “Reserve” has no value
Chernogorenko stressed that the Reserve and, for example, ASCs generate the same military registration documents, which are equivalent to a military ID card and a temporary ID. You can even cross the border with such a document.
“Wanted” status due to data updates
According to the deputy minister, the “wanted” status does not appear because of data updates. It is granted if, for example, a person has been served with a summons and has not come to the TCC.
Using the app, you can find out about a potential problem online, rather than during detention by the relevant authorities.
Possibility of data theft in “Reserve”
Chernogorenko stressed that the app has passed all the necessary security checks. Also, Reserve only displays information from the Oberig registry and does not store it on its own servers.
Such information is also included in Oberig when data is updated in ASCs. Only authorised bodies have access to the Oberig database.
Electronic summonses
According to the official, there will be no subpoenas in the “Reserve” system, as it is not provided for by law.
“That is, it (electronic summons – ed.) is not spelled out in official documents. Therefore, it cannot be in the “Reserve”,
– she added.
“Reserve” tracks geolocation
Chernogorenko stressed that rumours of geolocation tracking are a conspiracy theory.
“In fact, in any smartphone, you can check which apps have access to or request geodata. You can personally check that Rezerv has no need for geolocation,”
– said the Deputy Minister.
It should be noted that the updated law on mobilisation came into force on 18 May. All men aged 18-60 must update their registration details within 60 days – until 16 July inclusive.
The Ministry of Defence launched the mobile application “Reserve” for persons liable for military service, conscripts and reservists on 18 May, after the updated law on mobilisation came into force.
