The Ministry of Social Policy has denied the information that has been spreading in some media in recent days about blocking pensioners’ bank cards if there is no movement on them. This was reported by the citing the press service of the Ministry.

The ministry noted that it has no plans to take any action to block the cards and, moreover, does not have such an opportunity.

At the same time, the Ministry of Social Policy said that some pensioners may not receive their pensions on their cards.

“If a pensioner from among the internally displaced persons who was registered as an IDP before 24.02.2022 does not use his or her bank card for a long period (at least 6 months) and there is no movement of funds on such a card, the pension continues to be accrued to such a person, but until the circumstances are clarified, the pension is not transferred to such a person’s card account,”

– the statement said.

The reason for this is that some IDP pensioners live in the temporarily occupied territory. Therefore, the state is not sure that it is the cardholder who has access to the card. In order to receive payments, the pensioner must confirm that he or she is alive and using the card. Until he does so, the pension will be accrued to him, but will not be sent to the card. As soon as the person gets in touch and confirms his or her identity, the accrued payments will be transferred to his or her account.

The Ministry emphasises that the Government has significantly expanded the ways of physical identification. You can read more about them here.
