Women’s mobilisation in Ukraine: possible scenarios against the backdrop of a protracted war

The issue of women’s mobilisation in Ukraine has once again come into focus as the war continues, forcing the consideration of various options for recruiting women into the Armed Forces. Military analyst Oleksiy Hetman shared his vision of this issue in a commentary for TSN.ua , "Komersant Ukrainian" reports citing Krapka.media.
According to the military analyst, the issue of women’s mobilisation may indeed become relevant, but at the moment its probability remains low.
Hetman notes that even before the outbreak of the full-scale conflict, Ukraine already had more women in the army than many NATO countries, such as Italy. However, the analyst emphasises that the first priority should be given to those who evade mobilisation or have temporary deferrals.
According to him, women volunteers are already actively involved in military tasks. If women are mobilised, they can perform tasks in areas such as medical care, document management, communications, as well as providing food and equipment. In addition, there are many other positions where women can help strengthen the army without being involved in combat on the front line.
The hetman also emphasises that women will not be forced to go to the frontline. Their participation will be to ensure the functioning of the army, increase its combat capability and efficiency at various levels of logistics.
By the way, the government has introduced a new condition for reserving men.
Among the grounds for refusing to book an employee is the absence of information about the citizen in the Register of Persons Liable for Military Service.
