16 December 01:48
Odesa has partially restored mobile networks after massive attacks by Russia. As of now, the availability of mobile networks in the city reaches about 60%, and additional Starlink terminals have been delivered to the points of invincibility. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov on Facebook, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
Operators are working in a continuous mode
According to Fedorov, immediately after the attacks on Odesa and Odesa region, the engineering teams of Vodafone, Kyivstar, and lifecell switched to a round-the-clock operation.
In the first hours after the attacks, the base stations provided communication using batteries. Later, the network stability was maintained with the help of generators. For this purpose, additional repair teams were formed, including from other regions of Ukraine.
These teams refuel generators, repair damaged equipment and maintain stable network operation in difficult conditions.
Starlink for the points of no return
The Minister noted that to ensure Internet connection in the city, additional Starlink terminals were transferred to connect to new and existing invincibility points.
“As of now, the network availability in Odesa has been restored to 60%. We have also delivered additional Starlink terminals to connect new invincibility points to the Internet,” said Fedorov.
He also thanked the engineers, power engineers and mobile operator teams working to restore communications and digital infrastructure in the region.
Odesa’s infrastructure restoration continues
Alongside the restoration of mobile communications, work is underway to rebuild critical infrastructure in the city. According to Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, Odesa has already restored electricity supply to 180,000 consumers, and emergency repairs are being carried out around the clock.
Heat supply has been restored in all districts of the city, and some boiler houses are being launched in stages. The centralized water supply has been fully restored, and drinking and industrial water supply has been organized as needed.
The resilience centers and field kitchens continue to operate in the neighborhoods.
