Monobank has promised to buy a house for a 98-year-old resident of Ocheretyne, Donetsk region, who walked 10 km from the occupied streets of the village. This was announced by the founder of the bank, Oleg Gorokhovsky, reports "Komersant Ukrainian"
The day before, the National Police told the story of 98-year-old Lidia Stepanovna, who walked 10 kilometres from the village of Ocheretino under fire to escape the occupation.
“The house that the resident of Ocheretyne built with her own hands was destroyed by the Russians, and her family was injured. Escaping from the occupiers, the woman, at the age of 98, did the impossible. Lidiya Stepanivna walked all day without food or water, fell down several times and, as she says, “fell asleep”. She was holding on with two canes and her “character”. In the midst of the fighting, the pensioner miraculously remained alive and unharmed,”
– the National Police reported.
Lidiya Stepanivna’s story shocked the whole of Ukraine. Today, Oleg Gorokhovsky, the founder of Monobank, promised to buy the woman a house.
“This grandmother, who has been walking under enemy fire all day – damn, how is it possible… Monobank will buy Lidiya Stepanovna a house, and she will definitely live in it until this abomination disappears from our land,” he said,
– Horokhovsky said.
It should be noted that Lidiya Stepanivna started her journey to the free territory with her family – her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter. However, they had to split up, and the old woman walked alone under fire for almost the whole day.
In the evening, the military saw the tired pedestrian on the road and handed her over to the White Angel police group. The police took the resident to a shelter for evacuees, where she is being taken care of.
The National Police noted that Lidiya Stepanovna is feeling well.
