Carrots are getting cheaper again: what’s happening on the vegetable market

20 September 21:15

After a month of relative stability, prices for carrots in Ukraine have begun to decline significantly.

This is reported by analysts of the EastFruit project. It is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".

At the moment, trade and procurement activities in the carrot market remain inactive, while farmers need to sell quite large volumes of vegetables. The harvesting campaign in Ukrainian farms is actively continuing, and the supply of root vegetables in the domestic market is growing rapidly.

In this situation, producers are forced to reduce prices for the available volumes of carrots. Thus, at the moment, they are offering these roots for sale in the range of 6-13 UAH/kg ($0.15-0.32/kg), depending on the quality and volume of the offered lots, which is on average 15% cheaper than at the end of the last working week.

According to the producers themselves, the carrot market has been oversupplied for the past few weeks. Sales of these root crops are currently inactive and only in small batches. In addition, the rapidly growing supply of carrots on the market is putting pressure on prices.

It is worth noting that carrots in Ukraine are now being sold on average 35% cheaper than in early fall 2024. At the same time, farmers do not expect the situation to improve yet, as the supply of vegetables on the market is currently excessive, and the harvesting campaign in the country continues.
