The Ministry of Health of Ukraine has launched an electronic system to form a queue for free arthroplasty. This is stated on the official website of the Ministry, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The system automates the processes of patient registration, queue management, and surgery scheduling, which should ensure transparency and accessibility of medical care. It includes data from patients who need hip, knee, shoulder, or elbow prosthetics.
The algorithm is as follows: the patient visits a family doctor, receives a referral to an orthopedist, who enters the patient into the electronic registry after examination. Priority in the queue is determined by medical indications, urgency, and date of application.
As the date of surgery approaches, the system informs the doctor, who informs the patient. After the intervention, the information is updated, and all changes are saved in a log.
In 2025, the Ministry of Health plans to transfer more than 23,000 endoprostheses purchased with state budget funds to hospitals. Currently, 19,798 people are on the waiting list, most of them are waiting for knee replacements.
The service was created jointly with the Ministry of Digital Transformation on the basis of Diia.Engine with the support of the EGAP program. The system is administered by the state enterprise Electronic Health.
