Since the beginning of 2025, Ukraine has recorded fewer cases of acute intestinal infections than in the same period last year.
This was announced by Oleksiy Danylenko, Deputy Director General of the Public Health Center, during a telethon, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“If we compare this year’s figures with last year’s, there is no deterioration – on the contrary, the numbers are lower. We have 38 outbreaks now, while last year there were 45 at this time,” Danylenko said.
At the same time, the number of such infections traditionally increases in the summer. Outbreaks have been reported in almost all regions, except for a few.
Among the main symptoms of acute intestinal infections, the expert named nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and general weakness. According to him, if such symptoms appear, it is important not to self-medicate and immediately consult a doctor.
To prevent infections, the Public Health Center advises
- follow cooking technology and food storage conditions at home;
- not to buy food in spontaneous trade places;
- to give preference only to official retail chains and trusted catering establishments.
Earlier this week, the Ministry of Health reported new outbreaks of acute intestinal infections in Zaporizhzhia, Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv regions. Among the 70 people affected are 19 children. All of them received the necessary medical care.
