Metropolitan Epifaniy extended Easter greetings to Ukrainians
12 April 10:12
Epiphanius, Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, extended his Easter greetings to Ukrainians.
This was reported in a post on his Facebook page, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
“Dear brothers and sisters!
From the millennia-old shrines of Kyiv—our cathedrals of Saint Sophia, the Volodymyr Patriarchal Cathedral, and Saint Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral—and from the Ukrainian Pechersk Lavra, I sincerely congratulate you on Easter.
Christ’s Resurrection is not a symbol or a legend, but a truth and a reality that has entered human history and changed it forever. The light of Christ, the light of life, did not shine merely in the distant past through the Savior’s Resurrection—through our faith in the Risen Christ, it continues to shine today and serves as our weapon in the struggle against the darkness of this age.
Today, our people are enduring the hardships of war. But even in these circumstances, what constitutes the foundation of human life—faith, hope, and love—does not fade. This is precisely the profound meaning of Easter: to bear witness that even after the most severe trials, rebirth is possible, and the human heart, which does not lose love, becomes a place where renewed, immortal life grows.
May good wishes and words of hope for the victory of light and truth reach all the children of Ukraine today, wherever you may be, and first and foremost—our heroic defenders. I pray that the joyful feast of Christ’s Resurrection may enrich everyone’s life with its spiritual meaning, and that the Lord may strengthen us all, granting us the strength and wisdom to multiply good deeds.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. So let us be filled with this light; may it be our weapon against evil, which will surely be defeated and condemned, for truly CHRIST IS RISEN!”
As a reminder, on April 12, Christians of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church celebrate Easter.
