Foreign Ministry: mercenaries from 36 African countries are involved in the war against Ukraine

At least 1436 citizens from 36 African countries are fighting against Ukraine. However, the actual number of militants on the side of the Russian army may be higher.

This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports, citing the Telegram of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

“According to available information, at least 1,436 citizens from 36 African countries are currently fighting in the ranks of the Russian army invading Ukraine. These are those who have been identified, although the actual number may be higher,” Sibiga said.

According to him, Russia recruits African citizens using various methods. Some are offered money, others are deceived and do not realize what they are signing up for, or are forced to do so under pressure. Signing a contract is tantamount to signing a death sentence.

Africans in the Russian army are sent to “meat assaults”

Foreign nationals in the Russian army have a sad fate. Most of them are immediately sent to so-called “meat assaults” where they are quickly killed. The Russian command realizes that they will not be held accountable for the killed foreigner, so they are treated as second-rate, expendable human material.

According to the Foreign Minister, most mercenaries do not live more than a month. But there are two ways to avoid this fate.

What to do to avoid becoming a victim of war

First, do not join the Russian army and do not sign any documents with the Russian authorities.

“I call on all African governments to publicly warn their citizens against joining the Russian occupation army. Participation on the side of Russia in its war of aggression against Ukraine is illegal, immoral and violates the UN Charter and international law,” Sibiga added.

Second, if you have already been sent to the front line, look for any opportunity to desert and surrender. Most of the foreign mercenaries in Ukrainian captivity became prisoners of war during their first battle. All of them saved their lives.

“Russia is trying to recruit people from many countries. Ukraine will continue to inform about the regions and countries from which the Russian occupation army recruits foreign citizens, as well as about foreigners who are captured by us,” the Foreign Minister added.
