On the night of Tuesday, December 30, Russian troops shelled Chernihiv district, damaging an important energy facility. Due to the lack of voltage in the power grid, the movement of some trains in the region was temporarily changed. This was reported by Chernihivoblenergo and Ukrzaliznytsia.

What is known about the damage

Power engineers confirmed that another energy infrastructure facility was damaged as a result of the night shelling.

“Unfortunately, an important energy facility in the Chernihiv district was damaged as a result of a racist attack at night,” the company said in a statement.

Chernihivoblenergo assured that emergency repair work will begin as soon as the security situation allows.

How train traffic has changed

Due to the power outage, Ukrzaliznytsia announced temporary restrictions on suburban train traffic in the direction of Nepliyeve station.

“Due to the lack of voltage in the network caused by enemy shelling, a number of suburban trains are now running on changed routes,” the company said.

Which trains are running on the changed route

In particular, the changes affected the following trains:

  • no. 6542 – will run on the route Konotop – Tereshchenska
    (instead of Konotop – Nepliyeve);
  • no. 6543 – will run on the route Tereshchenska – Konotop
    (instead of Neplyueve – Konotop).

Ukrzaliznytsia urged passengers to take into account temporary changes and follow the updates.

“In case of changes in the train schedule, we will inform you additionally,” the railroad emphasized.

General security situation

As a reminder, on the night of December 30 , Russian troops also attacked Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, and Kharkiv regions using ballistic missiles and attack drones. Critical infrastructure facilities in the regional centers were hit, among other things.

Ukrainian services continue to respond to the aftermath of the attacks and restore the damaged facilities.
