Artist David Chychkan died at the front

Ukrainian artist and soldier David Chychkan was killed at the front, repelling an assault by Russian infantry in the Zaporizhzhia sector. He was seriously injured during the battle on August 8 and died on August 9. This was reported by theResistance Committeeassociation and human rights activist and soldier Maksym Butkevych, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“He always approached any work that needed to be done in good faith, never hiding behind others or his own social capital. He was always sincere with people and shared his deep thoughts on politics, ethics, and social justice with his brothers and sisters,” Chychkan’s brothers said.
They added that David “created a unique atmosphere around him and quickly knew how to find an approach to people of all views and moral systems, while remaining true to his own beliefs.”
What we know about David Chychkan
David Chichkan is the son of Ukrainian artist, representative of the New Wave in Ukrainian contemporary art Ilya Chichkan and the great-grandson of Ukrainian Soviet socialist realist artist Leonid Chichkan.
He began his artistic career in the early 2000s. In February 2022, even before the full-scale invasion began, an attempt was made to disrupt Chychkan’s exhibition Tapes and Triangles, which presented the artist’s view of the alternative history of the Ukrainian People’s Republic, in Lviv.
In February 2017, David Chichkan’s exhibition “Lost Opportunity” dedicated to the Maidan, the phenomenon of decommunization and the war in eastern Ukraine was vandalized by unknown people in balaclavas in Kyiv.
