Hundreds of earthquakes hit the Greek island of Santorini

                                                                    Over the past day, more than 550 aftershocks have been recorded in the area of the Greek islands of Santorini, Amorgos and Ios. Such seismic activity is considered atypical for Greece. This was reported by ERT, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs 
According to the report, both weak and strong earthquakes are observed in Santorini. The magnitude of the tremors reaches 4.5.
Professor of Geology at the University of Petros Abraham Zelilidis explained that the processes are associated with the rise of lava. According to him, scientists cannot accurately predict the further development of the situation, as its chemical composition remains unknown.
According to the newspaper, on February 4, experts installed four new portable underwater seismographs to monitor the activity of the Columbo submarine volcano. Some of the devices were placed in the volcano’s caldera, and the rest near the island of Anidros.
According to scientists, seismic activity will continue for several more days.
Over the past day, 6,000 people have left the island of Santorini. A total of 15 flights to Athens are scheduled for today. Evacuation is also being carried out by sea.
