Transportation stopped at the border between Ukraine and Moldova

31 January 14:21

Vehicles and goods are temporarily not being allowed to cross the Ukrainian-Moldovan border due to technical problems in the work of the customs authorities of the Republic of Moldova.

This was reported by the State Customs Service of Ukraine, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

The reason for this is the suspension of the central databases of the Moldovan customs authorities. The agency has asked citizens and international carriers to take this information into account when planning to cross the border.

“Vehicles and goods are temporarily not being allowed to cross the Ukrainian-Moldovan border,” the customs service said in a statement.

Further information on the resumption of border crossing operations will be provided later.

On the morning of January 31, a large-scale technological failure occurred in Ukraine’s power system, leading to cascading power outages in a number of regions. This resulted in the shutdown of the metro in Kyiv and interruptions in heat and water supply in various regions of the country.

According to Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal, at 10:42 a.m. on January 31, a technical failure occurred, causing the simultaneous shutdown of the 400 kV power line between the power grids of Romania and Moldova, as well as the 750 kV line between the western and central parts of Ukraine.
