In the occupied territories of Ukraine, the Russians are blocking internet access
29 March 08:06
In the occupied territories of Ukraine, access to Western social media and independent media is systematically restricted. Experts note that the “TSPU” system has become the primary tool of censorship, enabling the occupiers to monitor internet traffic in real time.
This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing a publication by the Center for National Resistance.
Blocking of social media and VPNs
The occupying authorities have blocked Instagram, Facebook, and X, and have also restricted access to independent media and VPN services.
Internet service providers are making it difficult to connect to these resources, and attempts to bypass the blocks are now strictly monitored.
The “TSPU” system and centralized control
The main mechanism of censorship has become the “TSPU” system—technical measures to counter threats, installed by internet service providers.
It allows for the centralized filtering of all internet traffic, blocking websites in real time without users’ knowledge.
The Internet as a Closed Ecosystem
In the occupied territories, the internet has turned into a closed environment where the only remaining primary sources of information are resources controlled by the Kremlin.
Alternative viewpoints are completely suppressed, and content is filtered before it even reaches users.
Consequences for young people
Young people suffer particularly: they lose access to the global network, as well as educational and cultural resources.
These are being replaced by local propaganda services that paint a distorted picture of reality.
The occupiers’ “digital fortress”
The occupiers are building a so-called “digital fortress,” where the internet is transformed into a tool of censorship and total control.
This is an environment of manipulation, devoid of free exchange of ideas, where information flows are completely subordinated to the occupying authorities.
