New medals will be awarded at the 2026 Paralympics: what is happening on the sixth day of the Games

The sixth day of competition at the XIV Winter Paralympic Games continues in Italy on March 12. On Thursday, athletes will compete for three sets of medals in para-alpine skiing — the giant slalom discipline, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
Ukrainian athletes will not be participating in the races on this day, but the team remains in the top ten in the overall medal standings.
What medals will be awarded today
On the sixth day of the Paralympics, the winners and medalists in the giant slalom in para-alpine skiing will be determined.
This discipline involves a high-speed descent down a course with a series of gates, where athletes compete in different categories depending on the type of disability.
Ukraine is currently seventh in the medal standings
After the first days of competition, the Ukrainian team is in seventh place in the overall team standings.
The team’s achievements include:
- 3 gold medals
- 2 silver
- 5 bronze
In total, Ukrainians have already won 10 awards.
In which sports are Ukrainians competing?
At the current Games, the Ukrainian team is represented in four sports:
- Para-biathlon
- paralympic racing
- para-skiing
- para snowboarding.
The team consists of 35 participants — 25 Paralympians and 10 guide athletes who assist visually impaired athletes during the races.
Where are the 2026 Games being held?
The XIV Winter Paralympic Games are being held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
The Paralympics will last until March 15.
During this time, athletes will compete for:
- 79 sets of medals
- in six sports.
More than 650 athletes with disabilities from around the world are participating in the competition.
