In a psychiatric institution in the Poltava region, 29 patients were held in forced detention. This was reported by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

According to him, the serious human rights violations revealed were the basis for the opening of criminal proceedings.

During a monitoring visit to the Regional Psychiatric Care Institution of the Poltava Regional Council, it turned out that 29 people were being held in one of the premises where compulsory medical measures had previously been used, and they reported illegal detention.

The patients reported that their documents and cell phones had been confiscated, and they were also forced to perform unpaid labor.

Vladyslav Nosenko, a representative of the Ombudsman in Poltava Oblast, summoned investigators, representatives of the regional prosecutor’s office and the administration of the facility on the spot. Criminal proceedings have been opened and investigative actions are underway.
